Initial Assessment

YOUR CHILD’S BRAIN IS NOT NATURALLY WIRED TO LEARN TO READ…

But We Know How to Teach Them - that’s why we begin with an initial reading assessment to discover the missing pieces in your child’s reading foundation. The assessment helps drive future instruction, building a strong reading foundation for a successful and confident reader. We will work one-on-one with your child to assess phonological awareness skills, phonics, word fluency, oral reading fluency, spelling, and comprehension. Each assessment includes a detailed write-up so you know exactly where your child falls within national norms in reading, as well as a game plan that will drive future instruction.

Need just an assessment, but plan to seek tutoring somewhere else? We are here to still offer support. Teaching Joyful Readers can assess your child and provide valuable feedback, even if you plan to work with your child yourself or seek services at another facility. Book your session today.
